Springfield, Vermont, was on Tuesday proclaimed the official hometown of TV's favourite dysfunctional family, the Simpsons.

The town beat out 13 other Springfields for the honour, which includes hosting the premiere of The Simpsons Movie on July 21.

The town was a late entry. Movie producer 20th Century Fox ran an online poll on the USA Today website inviting people to vote for their favourite of 14 videos submitted by the competing Springfields, which tried to show how much they are like the fictional Springfield.
